As Director of Marketing for Microsoft's Home Network initiative, Alec was responsible for launching and recruiting more than 300 vendors to Microsoft's Universal Plug and Play industry working group. While at Microsoft’s Canadian operation from 1992 to 1994, Alec increased market share of Microsoft’s developer tools from 29% to over 75% in the Canadian market, and launched the MS-DOS 6 Upgrade in Canada, using radical channel recruiting tactics to deliver results better than every other major Microsoft subsidiary worldwide. In 1993, while at Microsoft, he also created the first known commercial opt-in mailing lists on the Internet, and pioneered the use of direct-email as an e-commerce vehicle.
Dr Howard Thaw, COO
Howard Thaw is a serial entrapreneur and results-driven Executive with more than 25 years of multi-disciplinary technology and knowledge-based industry perspective, bridging experiences in both the private and public spheres. Following a distinguished career in Medical Research and later Computer Security, Howard emerged as the founder and visionary behind TCT-ThunderByte, the first anti-virus software company to integrate heuristic virus scanning, detection and noticfication into modern day e-mail. He was also the creative mastermind behind the award-winning DataSafe encryption software, recognized by Windows magazine as the Encryption Product of the Year -- and, which eventually led his company to be acquired by California-based NovaStor Corporation. Today's guest on the Canadian IP Thought Leaders series was John Ruffolo of Deloitte, one of the world's leading management consulting firms. John leads the firm's Canadian Telecom/Media/Technology Practice in Toronto, and we spoke about the issues and challenges of raising capital for companies in these markets. The realities in Canada are quite different than the U.S., and John addressed these on a number of levels. CEVA - Exhibiting at Spring VON 2006
CEVA is offering a licensable VoIP "application platform" consisting of a DSP core, subsystem, SW and tools - we target semiconductor vendors wishing to integrate voice capability into their CPE gateways or IP phones (LAN phones or converged VoWiFi/cellular phones).
Laura spoke with Moshe Sheier, Director of Marketing - DSP Products for CEVA, Inc.
Moshe Sheier has served as CEVA's Director of DSP Product Marketing since mid 2005. In his position, Mr. Sheier oversees all aspects of the VoIP and Audio product marketing, and also deals with other DSP infrastructure topics and Partner program. Prior to this position, Mr. Sheier was Director of Support and the Logic Design Department Manager for CEVA's DSP business unit. Mr. Sheier has worked for CEVA (formerly ParthusCeva) for 13 years when it was DSP Group prior to the ParthusCeva merger. He holds several patents in the area of DSP architectures and has a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Tel-Aviv University in Israel.
