Jon Arnold / Mark Farmer
On this week's podcast, Jon spoke with Mark Farmer, Director of Marketing for QuickPlay Media. Based in Toronto, QuickPlay is emerging as a strong enabler of mobile media applications for both Canadian and U.S. carriers. Mark provided some background on how mobile media has evolved and the kinds of applications that are driving demand today. Of particular note was his discussion about the variety of mobile media offerings they are enabling for VH1, and the characteristics that have made them successful amidst other larger and better-financed competitors.

Mark is the Director of Marketing for QuickPlay Media, which he joined in September of 2004. Originally Mark was brought on to help manage the launch of the first mobile video on demand service in Canada with Telus Mobility. As the company quickly grew, he has shifted focus to the marketing and positioning of QuickPlay Media. Before joining QuickPlay Media, Mark was the Director of Marketing for Amdocs, the global leader in customer care and billing solutions for the top wireless carriers where he marketed their portfolio of outsourcing and system integration services. He came to Amdocs by way of acquisition of Solect Technology Group in 1998 where he was the Director of Product Management for Solect’s IP Customer Care and Billing product. Mark has an engineering degree from University of Toronto.

Corrado Rocca is responsible for product marketing and management and all development projects for three product lines: access gateways, multimedia devices and element management systems.
He also represents Pirelli in the broadband access community, working with organizations such as Home Gateway Initiative and DSL Forum and participating in Plug Fests.
An 11-year veteran of the Pirelli Group, Rocca has held several senior level R&D positions within Pirelli Submarine Telecom Systems. In 2003, he was director of R&D, responsible for DWDM terminal equipment, underwater devices, power feeding equipment, and management software, and director of Manufacturing responsible for underwater products. He also managed joint co-operations with Siemens, Alcatel, Tyco, and NEC. Rocca joined Pirelli in 1995 as a member of the Optical Systems Design team.
From 1990 to 1995, Rocca worked in the R&D Transmission Department for Marconi Communications.

NMS Communications purchased IML in 2000 and Mr. Laurence was appointed VP and General Manager of NMS Communications’ Network Access Business Unit. Previously, Mr. Laurence held a variety of engineering positions, with companies such as Nortel Networks and Bell Canada.

Prior to Mosaic Venture Partners, Salim was Co-Founder and Vice President of Sales and Business Development for MobShop Inc, a pioneer in procurement software funded by GE Capital, Visa International, Mayfield Fund and Marc Andreessen. Salim's depth of experience also includes senior roles with MSI Consulting Group (a WPP Company) and IBM.
Salim has advised senior management at technology vendors including Microsoft, Oracle, Intel, SAP and Cisco on major corporate strategy initiatives. Salim is a graduate of the Richard Ivey School of Business, The University of Western Ontario.

Warner has been with TI for seven years and is based in Germantown, Md. Prior to joining TI, Warner served as the director of pre-sales engineering for several optical companies including Kirana Networks, Lucent Technologies and Chromatis Networks. Previously, Warner held the position of senior sales engineer for Nortel's remote access server and SS7 gateway products. He has also held positions in technical support, operations, engineering and systems analysis for Computer Sciences Corporation and GE Spacenet.
Warner earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Indiana, Pa.
