Jon Arnold / Michel Laurence

Michel-Original Photo.jpgpodcast

On today's podcast, Jon spoke with Michel Laurence, CEO of Montreal-based Octasic, one of the IP sector's leading semiconductor vendors. Michel shared his views on the things that make Canada - and Montreal in particular - attractive for world-class technology companies. Jon and Michel also talked about some key industry trends, such as the rising demand for video applications and the shift toward software-based solutions - and how these will impact companies like Octasic.

In 1998 Michel Laurence co-founded Octasic, a company that designs its own proprietary silicon for Voice over Packet (VoP) applications. CEO since 2001, Mr. Laurence oversees research and development and determines strategic direction. Prior to Octasic, he co-founded InnoMediaLogic (IML) in 1996, and within a span of four years, as chairman and president, he developed the company into a thriving mutli-million dollar vendor of VoIP solutions. NMS Communications purchased IML in 2000 and Mr. Laurence was appointed VP and General Manager of NMS Communications’ Network Access Business Unit. Previously, Mr. Laurence held a variety of engineering positions, with companies such as Nortel Networks and Bell Canada.
