Richard Elliot - Band-X, Tim Anker - The Colocation Exchange, Carl Ford at VON Europe
Tim and Richard stopped by the PPN Booth to chat with Carl Ford about service hosting and interconnection.
Richard Elliot is Executive Chairman and co-founder of Band-X. From its inception in 1997 Band-X pioneered new ways of buying and selling data and voice services and was instrumental in moving industry practices towards those of traders of other commodities. Prior to founding Band-X, Richard spent eleven years at Kleinwort Benson. During that period, Kleinwort Benson was the pre-eminent investment bank in the UK telecoms sector, taking a lead role in a number of high profile corporate transactions including the flotation of BT, Telewest, Orange and Energis. Before his time in the City of London he spent eight years in the Armoured Corps of the British Army after graduating from the University of Edinburgh.
Tim Anker is Director and founder of The Colocation Exchange Ltd, an agency specialising in the colocation and managed hosting sectors that he established in September 2004. Previously Tim had spent five years as Director of IP and Colocation Services at Band-X Ltd which he joined in 1999 when it comprised of just four people. In his time at Band-X Tim established relationships with hundreds of colocation providers around the world and was involved deals ranging from a rack up to 50,000 sq ft. Tim also ran Band-X’s IP sales team in London during 2003 and 2004 and was responsible for the company’s 150 wholesale IP customers, prior to the sale of this business in 2004. Before joining Band-X Tim had spent 14 years in the City with firms such as BZW, Smith New Court and Kleinwort Benson and for seven years he specialised in the emerging UK utility sector, being involved in much of the industry’s consolidation and floatations. Tim graduated from the University of Sheffield in 1985 with an Honours Degree in Economics.
