Jon Arnold / Tom Flak
On this week's podcast, Jon spoke with Tom Flak, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Product Strategy with Soma Networks. Soma is based primarily in Toronto and San Francisco, and is a leading provider of WiMax solutions. Tom provided an overview of the state of both fixed and mobile WiMax, and where it differs from WiFi. Mobile WiMax was discussed at greater length, especially about its merits for handling higher end applications rather than just supporting voice. Tom also talked about the importance of a complete end-to-end WiMax solution to properly support these high end applications.
Tom Flak is the Senior Vice President of Product Strategy & Marketing at SOMA Networks. Tom oversees global product strategy, marketing, market analysis, and business development for the company. Prior to joining SOMA Networks, Tom was Vice President of Marketing for Verilink Corporation, a supplier of transmission equipment to carrier and enterprise markets where he managed all aspects of marketing and product management. Prior to that, Tom worked in a number of key sales and marketing positions with Network Equipment Technologies, a leading supplier of private enterprise networks. He began his career in telecommunications with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in St. Louis, Missouri.
