Jon Arnold - Bio

Jon Arnold

Jon Arnold offers over 20 years of Canadian and U.S. market research and analysis experience to pulvermedia, with a specific focus on the tradeshow/exposition and high-tech communications industries. In his role with the company Jon provides a strong analyst perspective on Canadian markets at the company’s VON events as both a panel moderator and as a speaker, while also furnishing the same on a more regular basis via his blog (a key component of Jeff Pulver’s “Blog Farm”) and VON Radio. He also acts as the advocate for pulvermedia in Canada, devoting substantial effort towards building the pulvermedia brand and to promoting the company’s annual VON Canada event.

Though Arnold is a relative newcomer with pulvermedia, he has quickly shown himself to be quite versatile, working to produce content for the company’s various tradeshow events and contributing heavily to the development of the Pulver 100.

Before joining pulvermedia Arnold spent four years serving as VoIP Program Leader for Frost & Sullivan, an industry analysis firm based in Toronto. In this capacity, Jon developed and managed a subscription service targeted at the Global VoIP equipment market, producing reports that were among the company’s top-sellers for Telecom industry leaders such as Cisco, Lucent, Nortel, 3Com, Intel, Polycom and Telogy.

Prior to taking on this position with Frost & Sullivan, Arnold founded and ran Research Solutions in 1986, a Toronto-based marketing research consulting company specifically aimed at business-to-business markets. During Jon’s 15+ years with the company he conducted a wide range of qualitative and quantitative studies across many sectors (Telecom, Technology, Hospital/Lab Supplies, and Financial Services, among others) for a client base that included Rogers AT&T, MDS, Source Medical, Baxter, Dade Behring, VWR Canlab, GE Capital, Canadian Management Center, and Canadian Professional Sales Association.

Arnold is frequently invited to speak at VoIP and telecom conferences, including VON, Supercomm, Internet Telephony, Network Ventures and NYSSA. He is a contributing editor to the IP Telephony Dictionary, and he is often cited in the media as well, with quotes appearing in such publications as Business Week, Forbes, Fortune, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times, and Light Reading, among others. And Jon also frequently appears as a guest analyst on various business-oriented TV and on radio programs.

Married with two children, Max and Dean, Jon and his family feel fortunate to call Toronto home. And though he is a devout Red Sox fan, Jon continues to feel the blues through both his obsession with the music as well and his work as a board member for the Toronto Blues Society (and from time to time he has been known to bang out the occasional tune on the piano or on his guitar, as well).
